| Oh the Drama of it all... |

The history - exteremely abbreviated:
March 2000 - C Todd Lomabardo, a dancer from Connecticut, buys the domain name HipHopLindy.com. Todd builds and operates the site as a local lindy site for the East Coast.
April 2001 - I buy the HipHopLindy.com domain from C Todd, who no longer has the time to spend on it. C Todd sends in all paperwork for the transfer. The site never goes into my name. The technical contact is changed to a server I am using, but I still have no registrant change.
May 2001 - I revamp the site to a national site with a focus on Lindy sub forms.
March 2002 - I return from vacation in Australia. HHL goes down for a few days because the registration was not paid up. I make a 3 year registration payment. At this time I attempt to get the site put into my name at Verisign. C Todd no longer has the login or password information for HHL, nor the login or password for the email address that Verisign has on file for him.
April 2002 - The site is still registered to C Todd. A few calls to Verisign later, they tell me I need to fill out extensive domain name change forms. I do, then I send C Todd the forms.
May 2002 - I am informed the site server is going to go permanently in a month.
June 2002 - C Todd sends me the completed forms back. They are notarized by a notary public. I submit forms to Verisign.
July 2002 - HipHopLindy.com goes down. The server that Verisign is pointing at no longer exists. I cannot update this because I do not have any authority at Verisign to do so. I am informed by Verisign that the forms I submitted the month prior were incorrectly filled out for a number of reasons - most prominent being that C Todd's current address had changed. I am told to do the entire process again and wait another month. I make a few more enfuriated calls to Verisign. Upon my last one, I come up with a much better plan than dealing with all the red tape: get a refund for my 3 year registration renewal payment, let the site registration die, then buy the site from scratch when it becomes available.
August 2002 - Waiting for the site registration to fall through. I am told this will take 30 - 90 days. before I can buy the site again. I use the SnapNames service to register the domain name again. This goes through after a week. I am now using Directi.com instead of Verisign to register the name. So far they seem cool. I am using The-Spa.com for hosting now. They have great rates and so far everything seems great - especially their customer service. A woman named Melissa is especially nice and helpful, unlike anyone I have ever talked to at Verisign.
