Swing + Salsa = Swalsa, or so the story goes.
I've heard a lot of people talk about this hybrid form of swing called "swalsa". People talk about it like it's Keyser Soze: One guy's brother knew another guy who knew somebody who once did swalsa. To be honest, I do not think swalsa exists. I think there are a lot of people who do swing and salsa, and the two dances influence each other.
Paulette Brockington, director of the American Lindy Hop Chamionships and instructor of a class called "Swing meets Salsa", seems to back up this theory. In an interview I conducted with her in May of 2002 she defined swalsa as "Swing with Salsa figures added in".

In the salsa community, there is a group dance called Casino Rueda, which has been recentlyported to the swing/lindy community by Jeff Miller and Elaine Hewlett from Dallas, TX. They have dubbed it Swing Rueda. Jeff and Elaine describe swing rueda in more detail:
Rueda is danced in a circle with two or more couples. There is a dancer who calls the moves which the entire circle executes in unison. Some moves require partner changes and that's when the fun begins.
